ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Growing up in the South as a child of the 1960s, the Civil Rights Movement greatly impacted my life and continues to influence my writing. My memories of that time are deeply personal and are still filled with the sights and sounds of the music, rage, revolution, and redemption of that era. Both my collection of short stories, Angel In The Outhouse, and debut speculative fiction novel in verse, Keep A’Livin’, focus on the ordinary life of a Negro family during the extraordinarily tumultuous time of the Civil Rights Movement. This oft-omitted tale of America explores the common frailties, quiet triumphs, and fierce determination of a people to stand firm against the life-changing tragedies placed in their path every day. Keep A'Livin' was released in April 2024.
